What you can design
The builder is for truck and trailer lettering: the lines of text a driver, inspector or customer needs to read on the door.
- Lines: company name, city and state, USDOT number, MC number, plus up to two extra lines for a state number, GVW or a unit number.
- Width: 12 inches, 18 inches or 24 inches. These are decal widths, not letter heights.
- Sticker color: White, Black, Yellow, Silver, Red or Blue.
- Lettering color: Black, White, Red or Blue.
- Options: an arched company name, and a contour cut that trims each line close around its lettering.

How it works
- Type your lines. Start with your USDOT number, then add a company name, city and MC number if you want them.
- Pick width and colors. The door preview updates with every change, so you can compare dark on light with light on dark.
- Check the price. It shows as you go: $18.99 for the first line, plus a fixed amount for each extra line, size or color.
- Add to cart and order. One decal for each door, so order two for both sides. Shipping is $7.99, free from $99.
- Put it on. The decal ships with an instruction sheet and a link to the install video.
Before you design: what has to be on the door
The federal marking rule asks for the legal or trade name and the USDOT number on both sides of the vehicle, in letters that contrast sharply with the background and can be read from 50 feet in daylight while the vehicle is stopped. Some states add a number of their own. Our USDOT display rules page explains it in plain words, and the state-by-state guide covers the differences. Rules change, so confirm with FMCSA or your state agency.
Want a logo instead of plain lettering?
The builder does lettering. If you want a logo or a full-art design on the door, the shop has ready-made logo designs and full-art door sets that we fit with your company name. Truck and van lettering design ideas and trucking company logo ideas can help you decide.
Frequently asked questions
Can I design my own truck decal online?
Yes. The door builder lets you type your company name, city, USDOT number, MC number and extra lines, pick the width, sticker color and lettering color, and see it on a truck door as you type.
Do I need an account or any design skills?
No. There is nothing to download or sign up for. You type your lines, choose from the colors and sizes on offer, and add the decal to your cart.
Can I upload my own logo in the builder?
The builder is for lettering: names and numbers. For a logo on the door, choose one of the ready-made logo designs in the shop, where we fit your company name to the design ($120 per door, $10 more for a contour cut).
What does a truck decal from the builder cost?
It starts at $18.99 for a one-line USDOT number decal and adds a fixed amount per extra line, wider decal or colored lettering. Use the price calculator to see your exact total before you start.
Is the preview exactly what gets printed?
The preview shows your lines, colors and the decal's proportions on a truck door so you can judge the look. The lines you type are what we print, and the sticker is a solid-color rectangle with your lettering on it unless you add the optional contour cut.
What do I have to put on the door?
That depends on your operation and your state. The federal marking rule asks for the legal name and USDOT number on both sides of the vehicle in letters that contrast sharply with the background and can be read from 50 feet in daylight. Read the display rules page, and confirm with FMCSA or your state, before you order.
