Truck lettering made to order in vinyl, from $18.99 a decal. Preview your exact text on a truck door, then choose lettering, a logo, a door set or magnets.
Truck lettering from Work Decals is vinyl lettering made to order as a decal that you apply yourself. A decal is priced by its lines: one USDOT line is $18.99, so both doors come to $37.98 before shipping. You can see your exact text on a truck door before you pay, on every lettering product page and in the door builder.
Typical lines are business name, phone, city, and USDOT and MC when they apply. A truck covered by the federal marking rule carries the carrier's legal name or single trade name, as on its FMCSA registration, plus its USDOT number, on both sides, in letters that contrast sharply and read from 50 feet in daylight while stopped (49 CFR 390.21). FMCSA says no MC marking requirement exists, though many carriers add one.
Whether yours is covered turns on weight and use: see who needs a USDOT number, the display rules and where to put the number. We print what you type, you are responsible for compliance, and rules change, so confirm with FMCSA and your state.
On lettering decals the number lines are sized to fill the width you pick. For a typical seven-digit number such as USDOT 1234567, the numbers are about 1 inch tall on a 12 inch decal, 1.5 inches on 18 and 2 inches on 24. With contour cut they come out about 10% taller. Adding a company name or MC line makes the decal taller, not the numbers smaller.
Lettering product pages and the builder show the letter height for your exact text as you type. These are our decal sizes, not a federal rule: 49 CFR 390.21 sets no height in inches. See how big USDOT numbers need to be.
Each has its own page: pickups, box trucks, semis, vans, trailers and cars and SUVs. Trades: all decal pages.
We make vinyl decals only. We do not paint, hand letter, install or make wraps, so we cannot quote them. For paint or a wrap, get written quotes for the same lines and compare totals for both doors. See truck lettering vs wrap and truck lettering cost.
Shipping is $7.99 flat, free on orders of $99 or more. Decals are 3M or Oracal vinyl with a matching gloss UV-protective laminate, and a 3-year guarantee replaces one that peels or comes off.
A USDOT decal is one kind of truck lettering: the number line the marking rule asks for on a covered truck, alongside the carrier's name (49 CFR 390.21). Truck lettering also covers lines the rule does not ask for, such as a phone number, city or logo, and many trucks carry both. See DOT number stickers for number-only decals.
No. Lettering decals come in 12, 18 and 24 inches wide, and we do not offer wider. The same decals go on a door, truck bed side, trailer or van. For anything unusual, ask through the quote form on the fleet page.
Magnetic signs come off, which suits a truck you also drive privately. Federal rules allow the marking to be a removable device if it meets the same contrast, legibility and both-sides requirements (49 CFR 390.21), and in 2000 FMCSA said personal pickups used for business can carry temporary signs. Vinyl decals are adhesive. See magnetic USDOT signs.
Yes. Our vinyl can be applied to glass, such as a rear or side window. The contour cut (+$5 per decal) suits glass: it makes one piece that follows the outline of the lettering, with no rectangle behind it. Clean the glass first and follow the install sheet. See window decals for trucks.
