Two lines of very heavy black capitals share the frame, one stacked right over the other. The sample name, Blacktop Paving, is made up, and your company name takes its place. Between the lines runs one flat yellow bar, as wide as the lettering, like a fresh center line painted on asphalt. The top word is tightly packed with small round counters. The bottom word is set at the same weight and spreads out to the same width. There are only two colors, black and yellow, and no icon, outline or box.

That yellow bar is a built-in divider, so this layout is happiest with a name that splits in two: a family name on top and a trade word like Paving, Sealcoating or Asphalt below. Both lines are fitted to the same width, which means a short word gets big letters and a long word gets smaller ones. Two words of similar length look the most even. Black and yellow is the classic road-crew pairing, and it jumps off white, silver, light gray and tan doors. On a black, charcoal or navy door the black letters disappear and only the yellow bar is left, so a dark door is the wrong match for this one. A yellow door swallows the bar. The blunt, thick strokes hold up well at a distance, which suits paving, striping, sealcoating and concrete crews that want a heavy, plain look.
