Truck Decal Installation Near Me: Cost, DIY or Installer?

We ship decals and do not install them. Here is how to decide between doing it yourself and hiring a local installer, and what to ask a shop before you agree.

Truck decal installation near me cost depends on the shop, the truck and how many decals you have, so a local installer has to quote it. We ship decals only. We do not install them, and we do not work with, recommend or send you to any installer. Our decals are made for you to apply yourself with a printed instruction sheet and a video link. This page helps you decide whether to do that or pay someone local.

What we do and do not do

You order a made-to-order decal, it ships to you, and a printed sheet comes in the package along with a link to the install video, which is also on our installation page. That is the whole install service. For a step-by-step method, read our guide on how to install decals on a truck door.

If you want someone else to apply it, that is a separate arrangement between you and a local shop. We cannot promise what a given shop will or will not do.

When doing it yourself makes sense

DIY is a realistic choice when most of these are true:

  • You have a few decals, such as one per door.
  • The area is flat, with no seams, handles or ribs under the decal.
  • You can work in the shade, in mild temperatures, with the truck clean and dry.
  • You are comfortable with a squeegee and a steady hand.

What DIY needs, per our install page: a clean, dry door free of wax or polish, masking tape for marking and hinging, a squeegee, a clean cloth and a sharp blade or pin. That is the full tool list. The main cost is your time and care.

When to hire an installer

  • A large decal on a big surface. On a trailer a second pair of hands helps, and a pro brings them.
  • Ribs, rivets or curves where the decal may not lie flat.
  • Many trucks. Ten trucks with two decals each is twenty installs.
  • No shade or clean space, or no time to do it carefully.
  • You are nervous. Our decals are made to order and cannot be resold, so a crooked one means buying another.

That last point matters more than it sounds. Our guarantee replaces a decal that peels or comes off within three years, but it does not cover damage from removal and reapplication (refunds and returns). Peeling a decal off to straighten it puts you outside the guarantee, so marking the spot with tape before the decal touches the door is the important step.

What to ask an installer

Call two or three sign shops or vehicle graphics shops and ask each the same things:

  1. What is the total price for both sides, in writing?
  2. Is there a minimum charge?
  3. Will you install decals I bought elsewhere? Some shops may apply only their own.
  4. Does the price include washing the door and removing old decals?
  5. Who pays if a decal is damaged during the install?
  6. How do you line up the two sides so they match?
  7. Is there a warranty on your labor?
  8. When can you do it, and can the truck be left with you?

Give each shop the same facts: the number of decals, their width (12, 18 or 24 inches), the vehicle type and the condition of the door. Collect the quotes before you order, so you can compare them with the decal price. If the truck still wears an old decal, our guide on how to remove truck decals explains what taking it off involves.

Timing helps. Our tracking number is emailed 1 to 2 days after your order, so book the installer once you know the decals are on their way.

Reading local reviews

Searching "truck decal installation near me reviews" turns up plenty of stars. Look past the count:

  • Photos of finished vehicles, and whether the lettering looks straight.
  • Comments about how a problem, such as a crooked decal or a bubble, was handled.
  • Recent dates, since shops change.
  • Work on trucks like yours, such as box trucks or semis, not only cars.

A few detailed reviews tell you more than a long list of one-word ones.

Comparing the money

We do not publish installer prices, and we will not guess at them. Do this instead: add up what the decals cost on our site, add the installer's written quote for both sides, and compare that with the decal price plus your own time. Use the door builder for your decal price, and see truck lettering cost for examples. The USDOT Decal Sticker is $18.99 per decal and the USDOT + MC Two-Line is $22.99.

Compare the downside too. A mistake on a DIY decal costs a new decal. A mistake by an installer is something to settle with the shop before work starts, which is why question 5 above matters. If you plan to have someone else apply our decals, email info@workdecals.com before you order and ask how the guarantee applies.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to have truck decals installed near me?

We cannot give a figure, because we do not install and installer prices vary by shop, truck and job. Ask two or three local sign or vehicle graphics shops for a written quote covering both sides, and ask what is included. Compare that quote with doing it yourself, which costs the decals, basic tools and your time.

Do you install decals or recommend an installer?

No. We make and ship decals only. Every order includes a printed instruction sheet and a link to the install video, and the video is also on our install page. We have no partner installers and do not recommend shops, so use local reviews and written quotes to choose one.

Will a local shop install decals I bought from you?

That is up to the shop, and we cannot speak for it. Shops differ: some may apply only decals they sell, while others may apply yours for a fee. Ask before you order, and tell them the width and the number of decals you plan to buy.

What if I damage the decal while installing it?

The guarantee covers a decal that peels or comes off within three years. Our refunds page lists misuse, accidents, abrasive cleaning, and removal and reapplication as not covered. So take care with the first placement and mark the position with masking tape before the decal touches the door. Questions before you start? Use the contact form.

How do I judge a truck decal installer from reviews?

Look for photos of finished work on vehicles like yours and for straight, even lettering. Read how the shop dealt with a mistake, since that shows more than a five-star rating. Favor recent reviews with specific details over one-line praise. Then get the quote in writing.
