Your Texas TXDOT number on its own door decal. Type it, preview it, order. $12.99 each.
One line on one decal: a TXDOT number such as TXDOT 1234567, printed in the lettering and background colors you choose. The name TXDOT still gets used for the number behind Texas intrastate operating authority, a certificate the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles now issues. Type your own number, check the live preview on a truck door, and order one decal per door.
TxDMV says its intrastate operating authority certificate was formerly known as a TxDOT number, and that a USDOT number is a separate identifier, not operating authority. So a TXDOT line on a door stands for that certificate number. Your USDOT number is a different thing and keeps its own decal.
For markings, the Texas Department of Public Safety lists the USDOT number and the carrier's legal name as the required markings for commercial motor vehicles with three or more axles, truck tractors and road tractors. We are not stating that a TXDOT decal is required on your truck. Check with TxDMV or DPS for your own vehicle, because rules change.
The decal is made in 12, 18 or 24 inch widths, on a White, Black, Yellow, Silver, Red or Blue background, with Black, White, Red or Blue lettering. Each one is a single piece, so order two for both sides of the cab. Installation is DIY with the printed sheet and the video link, and the 3-year guarantee covers a free replacement if the decal peels.
Shipping is $5.99 per order, free over $99, with tracking by email one or two days after you order. Install is DIY with a printed sheet and video link in the box. A 3-year guarantee covers a free replacement if it peels or comes off. Details: shipping, install, refunds and returns.
It is the old name for Texas intrastate operating authority. TxDMV says staying in Texas, such as local moves and intrastate hauling, requires an intrastate operating authority certificate that was formerly known as a TxDOT number. The name stuck around, so you will still hear it. This decal prints the number. It does not register you, and it does not replace your USDOT lettering.
No. TxDMV calls a USDOT number an identifier, not operating authority. It also says interstate hauling needs an MC number from FMCSA, while intrastate hauling needs the TxDMV certificate, and one does not cover the other. Give each number its own line: the USDOT lettering on a USDOT decal, and the TXDOT line on this one.
Copy it from your TxDMV certificate and type it the way you want it to read. The builder sample is TXDOT 1234567, and the line holds up to 24 characters. The usual mistakes are typing the USDOT number or the MC number on this line, and swapping two digits. We print exactly what you enter, and a mistyped number is not covered by the guarantee.
A tidy layout is the USDOT lettering on top with the TXDOT line under it or beside it on the same door, so each number reads on its own. To avoid two separate decals, the four-line decal at $22.99 lets one line carry TXDOT. Whatever layout you use, keep the USDOT lettering easy to read from a distance.
Start with TxDMV's motor carrier page. TxDMV issues the intrastate certificate through its motor carrier credentialing system, TxMCCS, and the carrier's insurance must be filed electronically before approval. TxDMV also describes a USDOT number as a separate identifier, which comes from FMCSA. Our Texas DOT number guide has more, and fees and timing are TxDMV's to confirm.
