A GVW or GVWR weight line, such as GVW 26000, on its own decal. $12.99 each.
A one-line weight decal for a truck or trailer. Type the figure in pounds the way you want it to read, such as GVW 26000, choose a width and colors, and check the live preview. It prints as a plain rectangle in the background color you pick, made from 3M or Oracal vinyl, and you can stick it on a door, a box or a trailer.
GVWR is the rating the manufacturer assigns. The federal rules define it as the maximum loaded weight of a single motor vehicle, which is not what the truck weighs today and not its payload. Copy the figure from the manufacturer's rating label or your registration, in pounds, and never type a number lower than the actual rating. The builder line says GVW or GVWR, so use the word your paperwork uses.
Weight display rules are few and they vary by state. The only ones we can point to are New Jersey's and California's DMV decal, explained below, and we do not claim to know the rest. For any other state, ask the agency that handles commercial vehicles. The federal marking rule asks for the name and USDOT number, and it lets you add other identifying information if it does not conflict with them, per 49 CFR 390.21.
Pick a 12, 18 or 24 inch width with the background and lettering colors you like, and order two if both sides need one. A GVW line also fits on a four-line decal with USDOT, MC and CA lines. For trailers, the Trailer / Unit Number pair at $18.99 carries a unit number and a GVWR line. Installation is DIY, and the 3-year guarantee covers a decal that peels.
Shipping is $5.99 per order, free over $99, with tracking by email one or two days after you order. Install is DIY with a printed sheet and video link in the box. A 3-year guarantee covers a free replacement if it peels or comes off. Details: shipping, install, refunds and returns.
The builder field is labeled GVW or GVWR in pounds, and the sample reads GVW 26000, written without a comma. Use the word your paperwork or your state uses. GVWR is the manufacturer's rating of the maximum loaded weight. If a state asks for specific wording, ask that agency, because we print exactly what you type and cannot check it for you.
California commercial vehicles registered under the Commercial Vehicle Registration Act must display the DMV's CVRA weight decals on the right and left sides of the vehicle, per the DMV handbook. Those are the DMV's own decals, which show the declared weight, so a decal from this shop is not a substitute for them. Ask the DMV which weight you are registered at.
New Jersey requires commercial motor vehicles of 26,001 pounds GVWR or more that are registered or principally garaged there to display the GVWR, and it sets its own lettering size for it. Read the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission page before choosing a width. Our 12, 18 and 24 inch options are decal widths, not a legal letter size, and you should always type the real rating.
The federal marking rule applies to the self-propelled vehicle, and FMCSA's 2000 rule did not extend it to trailers. It asks for the name and USDOT number, not a weight line. Any weight display on a trailer would be a state matter, so check your agency. Our trailer guide covers more.
Combination weight is a different number. In the federal definitions, GCWR is the greater of the manufacturer's power-unit value or the sum of the GVWRs of the power unit and the towed units. If a form or an agency asks for a combined figure, that is what it means. This decal prints whatever you type, so confirm the right number first.
