TXDOT Number Decal (Texas)
Your Texas TXDOT number on its own door decal. Type it, preview it, order. $18.99 each.
Live preview. Type your lines on the right and watch the door update.
OPERATED BY, the carrier name and a USDOT number on one decal. Type, preview, order. $27.99 each.
A three-line door decal that reads OPERATED BY, then a carrier name, then a USDOT number. It is for a truck that shows another company's name, because the federal marking rule has the operating carrier's name and USDOT number follow that name, preceded by the words "operated by." Swap the builder sample (Acme Trucking, USDOT 1234567) for your own details and read the live preview before you pay.
Who counts as the operating carrier is the question to settle first, and we cannot settle it for you. FMCSA's guidance on vehicles used by two or more carriers says the markings of the carrier responsible for the operation must be displayed at the time of transportation. Ask FMCSA, or the carrier you work with, if it is unclear. This is general information, not legal advice, and rules change.
Leased equipment is one place this comes up. For property-carrying leases, 49 CFR 376.11 says the carrier acquiring the equipment must identify it under Part 390 for the length of the lease. Short rentals have a separate path: for an agreement of 30 days or less, the marking rule lets the lessor's name and number show instead, if its conditions are met. Our guide to operated by and leased to walks through examples.
On line two, type the carrier's legal name or single trade name as it appears on its FMCSA registration, and on line three type USDOT followed by the digits. A wrong ending such as LLC or Inc is a common slip, and the USDOT number examples and mistakes guide shows others. We print exactly what you type, so read the preview twice. Widths are 12, 18 or 24 inches at one price, two cover both doors, and the 3-year guarantee replaces a decal that peels.
Shipping is $7.99 per order, free over $99, with tracking by email one or two days after you order. Install is DIY with a printed sheet and video link in the box. A 3-year guarantee covers a free replacement if it peels or comes off. Details: shipping, install, refunds and returns.
Three lines on one rectangle. The top line is the wording, set to OPERATED BY and holding up to 24 characters. The second line is the carrier name, and the third is the USDOT number, typed as USDOT 1234567. The price is $27.99 per decal, the same at 12, 18 or 24 inches wide, printed on 3M or Oracal vinyl. Each decal is one piece, so order two to put one on each side.
The marking rule ties them to a vehicle that shows another company's name: the operating carrier's name and USDOT number follow that name, preceded by "operated by." Whether your truck falls under the rule, and which company is the operating carrier, is for FMCSA to answer, so ask before you order lettering. Our USDOT number display rules page summarizes the marking requirements.
49 CFR 390.21 does not set an exact spot on the door. It asks that the marking appear on both sides of the vehicle, contrast sharply with its background, and be readable from 50 feet in daylight while the vehicle is stopped. The operating carrier's marking follows the other name, so place the decal where it reads after that name. See where to put your USDOT number.
The federal rule's own wording is "operated by," which is why this decal uses it. A "leased to" line is a common practice that the rule does not require, and the Leased To decal has the same layout and price. If a carrier gives you exact wording, type it on the top line, and ask the carrier which version it expects.
It prints the carrier name and USDOT number below the words, so it covers the same two items as a company name decal. It does not include the other company's name, which stays wherever it already is on the truck. Whether it fits your situation is yours to confirm with FMCSA. With no other name on the truck, the Company Name + USDOT Decal prints the two items without the top line.
