USDOT, MC and KYU numbers on three lines for a carrier with MC authority on Kentucky roads. Type all three, order. $25.99.
Built for a carrier that holds an MC number and runs Kentucky roads at a combined license weight above 59,999 pounds. USDOT sits on top, MC in the middle and KYU underneath, all on one solid rectangle. USDOT and MC both come from FMCSA, while KYU is Kentucky's weight-distance tax license from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. All three lines must be filled in on this product, so have each number in hand before you order.
The Kentucky weight table is the reason this product covers interstate carriers, not only local ones. The Cabinet lists the KYU license for 60,000 to 80,000 pounds of combined license weight, for intrastate and interstate carriers alike, so holding MC authority does not take a truck out of that group. If your combination sits near the line, work out your figure with the Cabinet before you order, because the decal shows your numbers and does not show your weight. The intrastate and interstate page has the table, and our KYU guide explains the license.
Whose number goes on the decal matters as much as which lines appear. The federal rule asks for the operating carrier's name and USDOT number. When another company's name also appears on the truck, the operating carrier's name and USDOT number must follow it, preceded by the words operated by. A for-hire carrier that runs leased trucks should therefore type the number of the carrier operating that particular truck. The operated by guide covers the wording, and 49 CFR 390.21 has the rule itself.
Each of the three lines takes a label and then the number. The builder sample reads USDOT 1234567, MC 890123 and KYU 123456, with up to 24 characters on every line. Widths are 12, 18 or 24 inches, and the background and lettering colors come from the same six and four choices as the other decals in the line. The decal is $25.99, and two matching decals as a Set of 2 are $51.98. A Contour cut adds $5 per decal and makes each line its own piece, cut close around its lettering. Expect a tracking email one or two days after the order, and the 3-year guarantee covers a decal that peels or comes off.
Shipping is $7.99 per order, free over $99, with tracking by email one or two days after you order. Install is DIY with a printed sheet and video link in the box. A 3-year guarantee covers a free replacement if it peels or comes off. Details: shipping, install, refunds and returns.
Three lines, each required on this product: USDOT and your federal number on top, MC and your operating authority number in the middle, and KYU and your Kentucky number underneath. The builder sample is USDOT 1234567, MC 890123 and KYU 123456, with each line up to 24 characters. The decal prints no company name, city or phone number. Check every digit in the preview against your own registration and license before you order at $25.99.
No. The MC number is FMCSA's operating authority number. The KYU number is a Kentucky tax license number from the Transportation Cabinet. Whether your business holds an MC number depends on whether it needs federal operating authority, which is a question for FMCSA. Our MC number vs USDOT number guide explains the federal side, and this decal keeps the two numbers on separate lines.
That is not ours to decide. The federal rule asks for the legal name and the USDOT number, and FMCSA says no marking requirement exists for an MC number. The display question for KYU belongs to the Cabinet, and its KYU page is the place to start. A decal that prints all three does not settle any of those points, so check the rules and ask the Cabinet before you decide which lines to show.
The USDOT and KYU two-line decal is $22.99 per decal, and this three-line decal is $25.99, so the MC line adds $3 at the product price. If you do not hold MC authority, skip this decal and order the USDOT and KYU two-line decal instead. All three lines are required on this page, so a blank MC line is not an option here.
The Cabinet issues the KYU number after an online KYU application, which runs through a KYID account and the Motor Carrier Portal. The paper TC 95-1 Kentucky Trucking Application is the fallback. Copy the number from your Cabinet paperwork or account, not from memory, and order once you have it, because the decal can only print a number you already hold. Our KYU number guide walks through the steps.
