Vinyl lettering near me? Skip the shop visit: measure a van, SUV or car, choose your lines, preview the result and apply it yourself. See what it costs.
If you are looking for vinyl lettering near me for a van, SUV or car, you can skip the shop visit and order online. Work Decals is based in Los Angeles, has no storefront, and ships across the United States. You measure the panel, type your lines, check a live preview and apply the decal yourself. One thing to know first: our lettering is a rectangle with the words printed on it, not individually cut letters.
Cut-letter vinyl leaves only the letters on the paint. Ours is a made-to-order rectangle of 3M or Oracal vinyl in a color you pick, White, Black, Yellow, Silver, Red or Blue, with your lines printed on it in Black, White, Red or Blue. There is no die-cut, reflective, metallic or no-background option. If you want letters sitting straight on the paint, read die-cut letters versus rectangular decals before you spend anything.
A van, an SUV and a sedan have very different amounts of flat metal, so measure the vehicle you have.
Pick the widest cutout that sits clear of every edge. Our door decal size guide goes deeper on widths.
Put the lines in this order of importance: the name, what you do, the phone number, then a website if it is short. A stranger should be able to tell your trade without calling. Two made-up layouts:
If your trade or state asks for a license number on vehicles, ask your licensing board what it wants before you design anything. The work van decals page has more layouts for vans specifically.
Ordinary business lettering is not a marking. A van is marked with a name and USDOT number only when it counts as a commercial motor vehicle: used in interstate commerce with a weight rating of 10,001 pounds or more, more than 8 paying passengers, more than 15 passengers, or placarded hazardous materials (49 CFR 390.5T). If it does, the name and number go on both sides (49 CFR 390.21). The cargo van and Sprinter van guide walks through the checks.
A sticker with a background. Each decal is one solid rectangle, and the lines are printed on it. We do not sell loose cut letters, and there is no reflective, metallic, chrome or background-free version. The rectangle's color is your choice, so the lettering reads clearly even on a van whose paint is close to the lettering color.
Prices are per decal. A pair of single-line name decals is $37.98, a pair of name and phone decals is $61.98, and a pair of five-line decals is $102.00. Orders under $99 pay $7.99 shipping, so the first two come to $45.97 and $69.97. The five-line pair ships free, since it is over $99.
Our lettering decals print text only. For a symbol, choose one of the more than 100 ready-made logo designs, $120 per door, where we fit your company name to the design and email a proof before printing. If you have your own artwork in mind, ask through the contact form before ordering.
Then 12 inches is too wide for that panel, and we have nothing narrower. A decal that runs over a crease or edge will not lie flat. Look for a bigger smooth area, such as the rear hatch or trunk lid, and check it with a cardboard cutout first.
Yes, as long as the area is flat and clear of seams and handles. Order a Single decal for the back, separate from the pair on the sides. The lines for a rear panel can be shorter, such as the name and phone number, since drivers behind you have only a moment to read them.
